Whetstone
Whetstone, just immediately north from Finchley, originated in mediaeval times, and was an important staging post for coaches going north from London. In fact, there has been an Inn on the site of the present ‘Griffin’ public house, for centuries. Nowadays, Whetstone comprises many different types of both modern and traditionally built detached and semi-detached properties, situated in the various turnings branching off from the main High Road, and merging into the prestigious Oakleigh Park area. In addition, many modern apartment blocks have been constructed in the area, and are easily accessible for the multiple shopping and restaurant facilities, and the Northern Line underground station at Totteridge provides tube connection through to central London.
